I Did It Again

the one about rising anyway

Regina Monae in the studio

Some days everything in me feels broken, and every day feels like a struggle from the second I open my eyes.

But I still rise. Nobody sees the nights I almost broke — the tears on the pillow, the smiling in public while I'm barely coping, the weight I carry that I didn't deserve. "I Did It Again" is about finding the nerve to get up one more time anyway.

From the lyric sheet
Woke up tired, but I still rose Tears on my pillow nobody knows Every time I breathe, it feel like war But I been here before… yeah They don't see the nights I almost broke Smiling in public, barely cope Carrying weight I don't deserve Still I got the nerve… to rise.
✝ 2 Corinthians 12:9 — "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."
✎ A note to journal on

What did it cost you to get up today? Name one thing that's harder than it looks from the outside.
